A GREAT PLACE TO STAY began as a labor of love by its owner. More than twenty plus years ago she was called upon to care for intellectually & developmentally disabled (ID & DD) adults.  As DD & ID children who lived with their families became adults, the burden of care on aging parents and the potential for increased health problems resulted in hard decisions for parents and guardians, who often found themselves unable to care for their loved ones. Finding a home-like setting where a son, daughter, or sibling could receive proper support care and live the rest of his/her life proved to be challenging.

Today, A GREAT PLACE TO STAY owns and operates private group homes and provides support services within the Central Region (Central Regions consists of: Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, Sumter, Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Hardee, Highlands & Polk Counties).  Florida residents 18 and older who have been diagnosed with DD & ID may apply for A Great Place To Stay services using the Medacaid waiver.  Please note, to find accepted waivers & services please click "Services & Waivers".

Recently many changes have been made with regards to the care for the  developmentally & intellectually disabled adults.  Residential settings like A Great Place To Stay Group Homes are being desired in comparison to the more institutionalized settings.  While residential group homes are regulated by the state, we go above beyond as it pertains to the quality and living conditions of our homes and the standards that we operate by!  Each "A Great Place To Stay" house is a HOME and we LOVE what we do!!!

Our homes are here to serve the needs of DD & ID adults and give their families peace of mind!!!  If you are wondering who will provide the very best care for an DD and/or ID adult, A GREAT PLACE TO STAY is the answer!

AGPTS and their caring, experienced staff carefully evaluate each future resident to foster compatibility with fellow residents, ensure developmental needs assessments are accurate, and will care for the overall well being of the individual. Each individual has a personal plan that is devised according to medical assessments, needs, and state requirements.
